THE LATE MRS. McWILLIAM.—
After a protracted and painful illness Mrs. Martha McWilliam, wife of Mr. S. McWilliam of Sunnyside, Corowa, died on the evening of Saturday last. Mrs. McWilliam, whose maiden name was Steel, was a native of Geelong, her father being one of the earliest settlers in that neighbourhood and a pioneer in the Ironbark Forest district, which lies between Geelong and Cape Otway. She was married to Mr. McWilliam at Geelong by the Rev. Mr. Dare in the year 1862. at that time Mr. McWilliam was resident in Gippsland, but about 12 years ago he took up land in Riverina, and afterwards purchased the estate on which he has since resided. For the past twelve months Mrs. McWilliam has been afflicted with a painful disease for which medical advises could offer no relief, and which she bore with much fortitude. She leaves five sons and four daughters to mourn her loss. Her funeral which took place on Monday last, was, in spite of the inclement weather, attended by a very large number of Mr. McWilliam's sympathizing friends.
